Give the best wedding speech…while still being scared to death !

Give the best wedding speech…while still being scared to death !
Okay, the day is coming and you have to give a wedding speech. Next to death public speaking is the only other thing you may fear. And lets face it, how often do you give speeches ! Thoughts of movies like the Wedding Singer may come to mind. Everyone under the sun has also gave you bits of info. So it’s safe to say you’re head is spinning ! But fear not , there are some advantages that you have.
For one lets get old fashioned and pull out a notepad. But down the pda. If you are giving a wedding speech then you must know something about the bride or groom. And if you’re not family then you are intimate with them. So right off the back you are working from a position of power. And knowing this should give you some confidence. This knowledge should be the backbone in building that speech. Bet that sheet feels like hundred pounds now !
Even though you know the bride and groom you don’t want to let everyone in on their worst moments. Lets leave out the late night drinking binges or drag racing on the city streets. Instead highlight the parts that show just how great a guy or girl they are. Your words could sway some holdovers who still may not like one of the wedding party. Trust me it happens.
Furthermore this speech should be short and sweet. A liquored up version is not advised. Think back to those movies. Remember that good old notepad. Write down a few more clever remarks that includes everyone that counts. Say it and sit down. Uncle John is itching to get back to the bartender !
Pulling off the best wedding speech does not have to be a sweaty palm experience. Go here http://www.winningweddingspeech.com to get more killer strategies and tips to a speaking superstar.

Don’t Underestimate the Best Mans Speech
BEST MANS SPEECH
A wedding speech is not small potatoes.
Even the most confident people, well versed in public speaking, have a problem when asked to speak extemporally. They know that the really good speeches are rehearsed and prepared thoroughly prior to the event. To make a best mans speech without this preparation could be a social gaffe of serious proportion.
Your responsibility is to deliver the best mans speech. Remember this when you are organizing the bachelor party; the best mans speech is the one expected to entertain the guests and maybe roast the groom â if that is your wont, but it is THE speech of the entire ceremony and reception. Donât let anyone tell you otherwise.
Remember that if the wedding is compared to a stage play, you would be one of the main characters. People are attending because a wedding is entertaining â an occasion; and you need to learn your lines. So remember that you have been invited by a close friend to be both contributor and player to entertain any amount of friends or relatives attending one of the most important social events the bridal couple will ever hold sway over.
Neither are the best mans other duties to be sneezed at; other duties include:
Helping to organize the wedding and the reception. Assist and advise the groom by seeing to his appearance and sobriety â if you are one of the best men who tries to get the groom inebriated at every opportunity â watch out. The karma police will get you. Orchestration of the wedding and reception in tandem with a master of ceremonies â if one is available â or by yourself if not. Make sure the guests are happy and being taken care of â heck, its your mates interests at heart here. This duty also encompasses keeping an eye on the other players in the bridal party and helpers cast. Attend to any guests who are over-indulging and getting out of hand.
Best man duties are not for sissies!
Making a good best mans speech gets you respect from the audience and makes all your ancillary tasks just that much easier. So your best mans speech should be peppered with plenty of the required personal, pithy, insightful, witty and meaningful throwaways, stories and one-liners that make such a speech memorable.
Even a journeyman speaker would struggle; to someone whoâs unused to public speech delivery (never mind the composition and authoring of such an important speech) its enough to give you the willies.
If this sounds familiar and you are not intent on a speech making course to craft a best mans speech, we have a new contributor line-up in our review section and they provide great help in the form of about twenty pre-written speeches with advice on delivery. These are in a very user-friendly format and will give you something to use immediately.
Their book tells you everything you need to know about being an incomparable Best Man â as well as whatâs going to be expected of you, how to quell stage-fright and overactive nerves and some bright ideas for handling emergency situations that may crop up.
Pete Steel was a member of Toastmasters for several years. He reviews best mans speech guides and writes about wedding speeches and public speaking.

How to Give a Best Man Speech Like a Pro
If you want to learn how to give a best man speech like a pro then you should read on. Specifically we’ll discuss what makes a good speaker stand out, what makes a poor public speaker and what you can do to make your best man speech exceptional. After reading this article, you’ll be ready to start preparing for the big day.
While it may seem that the confidence of a good speaker is innate, the truth is that anyone can learn how to speak in public well. Self-confidence is expressed in a variety of ways including body language, clarity of speech, how well they connect with the audience and eye contact to include all, as well as familiarity with the material being presented and how clearly the message is conveyed.
When all of these fall into place the result is often a speech that effortlessly flows, but the truth is that even the best speakers have to put in work before hand to enable them to reach this level.
Most of us are not used to speaking in public and therefore get nervous about the thought of it. If you fail to prepare a speech so that it is well thought out and the audience can relate to, are not familiar enough with it so that you have to read it aloud instead of speak it – a vital difference – or rush it due to nerves the result can be painful for both the speaker and the audience.
However the good news is that it doesn’t have to be like this.
First of all you should allow plenty of time to prepare a speech that you are completely happy with in terms of content and then ensure that it is polished to allow you to speak it easily. Think up some good ideas, write it all down, rewrite it and read it aloud until you are happy.
Once you’ve got to this stage you should rehearse the speech as much as you need, making sure your voice carries clearly and you don’t speak too fast, a common problem when nervous. You should also be aware of where you should pause for dramatic effect or to allow the wedding guests to laugh – you don’t want to speak unless you can be heard.
On the day try and relax, but nerves are normal and the adrenaline rush will help your confidence. If you really know your material and have it down to a few notes to guide you through your speech you should have few problems on the day. The wedding guests will be looking forward to your speech and so it’s not like doing stand up comedy to a hostile audience – they’ll laugh when you want them to and enjoy your speech even if you are showing nerves.
Being asked to be best man is both a pleasure and a curse for many men. However, you can enjoy the day and your time in the limelight providing you put in some time to prepare both your material and your presentation skills. By doing this you’ll naturally feel more confidence and on the day should be able to really impress with a professional sounding best man speech.

The Grooms Speech – The Most Important Speech Of Your Life
Filed Under Groom Speeches | Leave a Comment
The Grooms Speech – The Most Important Speech Of Your Life
Itâs the biggest day of your life. The wedding ceremony is now behind you, but the worst part is still to come, making your dreaded groomâs speech. You can hear the father of the bride giving his speech in the background but you are not listening to it, you are too nervous about giving your speech next.
You hear some applause and glance sideways to glimpse the father of the bride, just in time to hear him introduce your speech. You gulp. You have every reason to be nervous, because if you get this right you are the hero of the day, but if you get it wrong â¦
What happens next is largely a result of the amount of planning and preparation you have put into the speech. In reality this is easier said than done, the run up to your wedding is one of the busiest and stressful times of your life. You have a wedding, a reception, a honeymoon, and also certain lifestyle changes to plan for.
There is so much to do, so many people to placate! Despite all of this you really do need to set aside some time to work on your speech. Although generically referred to as grooms speeches, it is really the groom making a speech on behalf of both the bride and him, and so the speech should start off with âMy wife and Iâ.
In your speech you need to acknowledge the speech just given by the father of the bride, you also need to thank all of the people involved in the wedding ceremony and the reception, all the people who have come along to wish you well and who may have given gifts, and of course both sets of parents.
Once all the thanks are out of the way you could then talk about how you first met your new wife, mention the experiences that you have shared together, and what made you decide that this was the person that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with.
Mention how beautiful your wife looks today, making sure that you are looking at her when you say it; you donât want to be seen to be reading this from your speech! Explain how exited you feel about starting a new life together, and about your confidence in a long and happy marriage ahead.
In keeping with tradition you should conclude your speech by thanking your best man and explaining why he is so special to you. And then to stop it sounding too soppy you should have a gentle but humorous dig at him. Itâs his speech next and heâs bound to have some embarrassing tales to tell about you, so itâs fair game to get in first! End by introducing the best manâs speech, and by asking him to be gentle with you (he wonât of course, but itâs worth a try!).
The fact that you have been busy leading up to the wedding day is a very lame excuse for delivering a poor grooms speech. To fail at the biggest speech of your life will do you no favors whatsoever with your new wife and in-laws. This key speech needs to demonstrate that it was crafted with love and respect for the occasion, and not just thrown together during the car ride from the service to the reception.
Thatâs not to say that writing the speech is easy. You may spend some hours staring at a piece of paper containing the words âMy wife and Iâ before you can figure out what else to write. Luckily you will be forced to abandon it at this stage as something really urgent usually comes up, like having to make a cup of coffee or having to check those pesky emails (again!).
After repeating this cycle a few times it becomes obvious that a little help is required to start you off. You decide to scour the web for any examples of grooms speeches that you can find. You invariably find that the examples you find are all poor quality, cliché riddled, and regurgitated rubbish, and ones that your wedding guests will have heard many times before.
Your speech must use words that you normally use, and be delivered in your normal style. Anything else and your wedding guests will latch onto the fact that you have not written it yourself. Not only that, but because the content and style will be so alien to you, you will not feel comfortable about giving the speech, or confident enough to pull it off successfully.
Fear not though. There is a way that you can get your hands on examples of high quality proven and tested speeches crafted by professional authors. These can be modified to suit your personal circumstances and your preferred style of presentation. As they will be all written by the same author the examples can be mixed and matched to give you a smooth and free-flowing groomâs speech.

The Best Man Speech – 3 Factors I Gleaned The Hard Way To Never Do When Presenting The Best Man Speech

The Best Man Speech – 3 Factors I Gleaned The Hard Way To Never Do When Presenting The Best Man Speech
What can I put in a good best man speech? Suppose nobody laughs at my jokes? Can I bring up that night in Sin city that no one else is aware about? Let’s suppose I make a fool of myself in front of all of those people?
These are almost all feelings that went through my mind when i had been asked to be the best man at my brother’s wedding ceremony. Being the best man was not that difficult, however needing to present the best man speech while in front of all of those guests is what kept me up through the night.
When the big event approached, it absolutely was simple to postpone. “It will come to me,” I assumed. The days and months went by, and the bachelor party was over and well, lo and behold, the best man speech never ever seemed to “appear to me” as I had predicted.
The day of the wedding ceremony arrived and I had not carried out just one bit of preparation regarding the best man speech. I did not actually quite fully understand when I was going to present my best man speech, and also I wasn’t particularly confident of the etiquitte called for. As a result, that morning, I frantically wrote down a couple of of humorous situations on a paper napkin, figuring I might “wing” the rest of the speech.
Feeling positive that I could quite possibly ad lib most of the speech and toast based on my napkin information, we made it through the wedding ceremony and went to the reception.
In order to calm my anxious feelings, I drank a few of cans of beer imagining that this would likely aid my big presentation in front of each and every one of those people. One beer led to yet another, and before you realized it, I appeared to be a little more than buzzed.
Still uncertain of when I was expected to stand up and speak, the father of the bride tapped me on the shoulder letting me know that it was likely about the suitable point in time to make the best man speech.
“Holy crap!” is actually pretty much what ran through my head. It is really time right now (as if I failed to have tons of time to be ready!)?
I ceremonially dinged the cup and declared that I desired everyone’s attention. Talk about a race of worry. Virtually all eyes in the place were upon me, planning on me to come up with this landmark best man speech!
Well, needless to mention, I was so unprepared and anxious, that I believe that almost all of what came out of my lips ended up being the new bride and grooms name and how happy I was for them. Also, I managed to mention the night in Sin city, and hardly any one was amused with that little tale.
In the event that it had been even unforgettable at all, it was because of how uninteresting, offensive and predictable it had been. I only wish I had a second opportunity to get it perfect. Sorry to say those second chances will not come around quite frequently.
Thus, coming from my personal experience, I can tell you that three things that a best man SHOULD NOT DO for a best man speech are:
1. Not prepare yourself
2. Drink excessively prior to giving the speech, and
3. Bring up any stories that should not be repeated
Take it from me, be prepared – it’s still awkward to this day to even look at somebody from the wedding ceremony, and it might have been completely prevented.
Be sure to deliver an amazing best man speech that will leave the wedding guests wanting more. To get started on preparing this once in a lifetime performace, visit http://www.thebestmanspeech.net

A Groom Speech Dedicated For the Wife
Wedding day is a special celebration of two people and for these two people–that will be you and your future wife. Rendering a groom speech on your wedding day is a great chance to say how you really feel about the day and about your wife. Many grooms find this a challenge, though. Sure, writing your own speech is a challenge. But if you’ll write from your heart, writing your speech will be fun.
To start making your speech, better choose a topic first. You might be overwhelmed to know that there are many possible topics for a groom speech. But since the wedding day will be the bride and groom’s day, why not dedicate a speech for your future wife? Below outlines an example of a groom speech dedicated for the wife:
1. Start it with a story of how you and your wife met. Detail how you fell in love with your wife and what was your first impression about her. Tell them who had the courage to do the first move and what happened when you’re officially together.
2. Talk about what are the common things that you do together. Maybe you both love travelling or playing chess. Talk about funny memories you had together while sharing your hobbies and interests.
3. Tell the audience why you decided to get married and settle down. Talk about the sweet reasons and some funny ones like you can’t live normally without your wife’s delicious cooking.
4. Describe the things you love about your wife. Praise her nice qualities like her beauty, kindness, generosity, etc. Tell everyone how lucky you are to have married such a wonderful person.
5. End the groom speech with a romantic something. You can give your wife a big, red, and long-stemmed rose or ask her for a dance. A toast to the bride is sweet, too. A romantic kiss is also a good way to end the speech.
Your wife will surely feel flattered after the speech. Most grooms want to flatter their wives, anyway. And when you do it in that crowd, that’s definitely double the happiness. Remember, a wedding is not an everyday event. It’s rare that a person gets married to the one he or she truly loves.
During your wedding, a union of two persons who are genuinely in love with each other will finally be made. Your family and friends will be there to share happiness with. This is the perfect chance to say the nicest things you can say about your wife. Your groom speech may only be three to five minutes long. But that speech will be remembered forever. Who knows, that sweet and romantic groom speech might be your inspiration to win over the battles that you’ll both go through as a couple.

Brooke’s Wedding Speech
Filed Under Wedding Speeches | Leave a Comment
Brooke’s Wedding Speech
Sometimes, great wedding speeches come from people whom you least expect to say remarkable words. However, when you hear such words, you can’t help but wonder how unfathomable these words are. This is why I found Brooke’s wedding speech surprising, considering that it came from a teen oriented show. I never imagined that the writers could come up with such beautiful words to appear out of Sophia Bush’s character. The paragraphs below try to dissect the true meaning of her words in context to the show.
Brooke’s Wedding Speech: the Deeper Meaning
Brooke was invited as a maid of honor at her friends Haley and Nathan’s wedding. She came with Lucas who was Nathan’s half-brother. However, they were fighting at that time. It can be inferred that this is one of the reasons why the speech was so heartfelt. It was because Brooke was so hopeful that she would be able to find the love that Haley and Nathan found in each other.
Though she still loved Lucas, Brooke was not sure if he still had feelings for Payton who was his first love, and her best friend. This is why she felt so confused before going to the wedding. However, the moment she saw Nathan with Haley, she instantly knew that they loved each other very much, and were destined to be together.
Brooke’s wedding speech summed up all that she felt at that moment- the hope that someday she will find her true love and that he will always love her without a doubt or question. Brooke’s wedding speech quoted Shakespearean words about how true love will not and cannot change a person, and that despite the changes that may happen in the world, true love will always remain the same.
Brooke felt akin to these words, because Lucas who was supposed to be the one who loved her for who she is, was trying to change her into someone that she was not- someone like Payton. In Brooke’s wedding speech, she also spoke of being scared to believe in true love, because her karmic energy may steal it away from her. This just goes to show how much she loved Lucas, that she is afraid of loving him too much at the risk of losing him to her best friend.
Brooke’s Wedding Speech: Wrapping It Up
She ended her speech with a toast to the newlyweds, and to true love that never aims to change a person. Brooke’s wedding speech showed that love should not draw strength from wanting to change somebody. Real affection should do the opposite and bring out the best in the beloved as well as the lover.
Brooke’s wedding speech is a great example of a wedding speech because it teaches the listeners how true love really works in the words of Shakespeare. It shows that if a person really loves someone, he or she would never try to change the person. Instead, he will accept her for who she really is and vice versa.

Best Man Speeches – How to Master the Art of Wedding Speeches

Best Man Speeches – How to Master the Art of Wedding Speeches
So your best buddy just asked you to be his best man on his wedding day. No big deal. You get your tux ready, your shoes your slick hair and the perfect cologne to attract all the single ladies at the reception. Then you are good to go!
No wait, you just hit your forehead with the palm of your hand remembering that the best man just doesn’t party hard during the bachelor party, stand behind the groom during the ceremony and get wasted on the wedding reception but he has to make a speech. That’s right, “The Best Man’s Speech”, the kind of speech that not everyone is too eager to make.
Since not all guys have the guts or the ability to make good and memorable speeches in front of people, this usually translates to jittery knees, sweaty palms and for the really weak of heart, alcohol intoxication; enough for them to find guts to say something without remembering that dreadful night.
Best man speeches don’t really have to be this way if you know the right trick. You can save yourself the anxiety or the embarrassment if you know the dos and dont’s of delivering a great speech.
No need to panic when this situation arises. Calm yourself and gather your thoughts. It is not really as difficult as eating a wedding cake that tastes like paper. Trust me; you don’t have to take endless trips to the open bar before you make your speech. It is about full preparation of what you need to say about the bride and groom.
You should already know the groom pretty well. But if the bride isn’t really close to you, take some time to know some things about her before the wedding. Think about how you want the audience to respond. It’s either you want to crack them up or just keep it serious without sounding cheesy or disrespectful. And you also need to think about what you want to wish the newlyweds for their future.
It is best to write your thoughts down so you will not forget the highlights of your speech. You need not read it directly from the paper while doing your speech to avoid looking like you are making a state of the nation address. You can write down some of your favorite memories with the groom and write down information you’ve learned about the bride too. Prepare a good message that can make the couple feel their closeness to you. This way, they will be very appreciative of it. End your speech in an upbeat manner making you ready to make a toast.
It is not necessary to write an essay. Keep it short but heart- felt. 5 to 15 minutes is fine enough not to put everyone to sleep or giving them an idea of throwing you the flower vase on their table. Review your speech or share it to someone who can give an honest opinion about it.
Just remember, you are making a speech for someone dear to you and that should not give you any reason to feel nervous. These steps will help you produce a successful speech. Give the newlyweds a speech that they can cherish and for the audience to smile or laugh at. So just relax and enjoy the moment!
