How to Give the Grooms Speech – Part 1

It’s your big day you are about to marry the girl of your dreams. Everything is prepared the suits are here, the best man has the rings and your waiting for the car to arrive to take to the church – then suddenly a pain hits you in the stomach, the thought of giving the speech after the wedding breakfast enters your head.

Don’t panic! Public speaking is something that doesn’t come naturally to the majority of us. It’s outside of our comfort zone.

Firstly what should you actually speak about?

It’s always nice to welcome your guests, the father of the bride may already have done this, but there is no harm in doing so again. You should shower compliments on your new bride – tell her how beautiful she looks. At my wedding I read her some verses from my one of my favorite songs. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel, some of the greatest speakers in history have already chosen great words to say about love – use their words instead of your own. Add a quotation : here are a few ideas

I knew it was love, and I felt it was glory.

Lord Byron

English Poet

I’ll love you,dear, I’ll love you

Till China and Africa meet

And the river jumps over the mountain

And the salmon sing in the street,

I’ll love you till the ocean

Is folded and hung up to dry

And the seven stars go squawking

Like geese about the sky.

“As I walked about one evening”

W.H. Auden

English Poet

If the new in laws have spent a fortune on the wedding, you had better thank them for putting on such a fine show.

You should also spend time to thank your parents, those years of tender love and affection and careful nurturing that have brought you to this point.

It is sometimes traditional to have gifts for the mothers, this would be a good time to present these.

It is then traditional for the groom to thank the bridesmaids, you may also want to thank your best man or the ushers. You then end your speech with a toast to the bridesmaids.

You then sit down to cheers and applause. Job done.

Easy Writing Guide For a Best Man Speech With Jokes

You can be humorous in writing your best man speech with jokes and anecdotes to help you tell your story. It is easy to write funny toasts and speeches if you have some tips and tricks to help guide you in writing.

I am not a professional wedding speech writer. I am also a best man like you. I wrote my best man speech with funny jokes in a few hours after reading some guide online. I know that you too can write your own humorous speech and toasts. Just follow the tips and tricks that I will enumerate below.

So without further ado, let me share some of the wedding speech writing tips that I learned on the web.

1. Make a draft of your best man speech. Remember that you don’t have to worry about grammar or spelling at first. The draft was meant to be full of mistakes. However, if you think that your drafts are full of spelling and grammatical errors, then you must know that you will have to edit and re-edit it to perfection.

2. Use short sentences when filling your paragraphs. Just use 3 to 4 sentences when populating your paragraphs to keep your speech short and simple. You have to know how to keep everything short because you don’t want to tell a 5 minute story with a lame punchline at the end.

3. Engage your listeners/audience by using colorful and descriptive words. Use the old creative writing adage – show, don’t tell. It sounds hard to do but all you really need to use are metaphors and imagery to help people visualize what you are saying.

4. Do not use fancy words so as not to alienate your audience. Just use regular, conversational English and you will not go wrong. Using fancy words that can only be found in the dictionary or thesaurus is more annoying than entertaining.

5. Rehearse your speech with someone else. If you have someone that you can practice your speech then it will be very beneficial for editing your work, and even to see immediate reactions to your jokes.

It’s great top rehearse with one or two of your family or friends. It will make the speech writing process faster and much more dynamic.

So you see, writing a best man speech with jokes are as easy as ABC. I tried all the tips above and I made a good delivery at my friend’s wedding. If you need more professional speech writing guide then just click http://www.weddingspeechesforall.com

Best Man Speech – 4 Tips For a Memorable Wedding Speech

The Best Man Speech is one of the most anticipated wedding speeches at the wedding reception.

And for good reason – it’s usually a funny wedding speech about the groom which sometimes puts an embarrassed smile on his face.

But while good natured fun can make the wedding guests laugh, it’s important to remember these tips when giving your Best Man Speech.

1. Keep Your Comments Positive

Your wedding speech should be uplifting and positive.

Avoid talking about the groom’s previous failed relationships or divorce. Instead, congratulate him on his special day and talk about how lucky he is to have such a beautiful bride.

2. Don’t Apologize If You’re Nervous

Most people who give a Best Man Speech aren’t professional speakers.

It’s normal to be nervous and there’s no need to apologize for being nervous.

Remember, the wedding guests are interested in hearing your Wedding Speech – not how nervous you are.

One of the best ways to overcome nervousness is to practice your speech several times before the wedding reception.

3. Keep Your Wedding Speech Clean And In Good Taste

Your Best Man Speech should be clean without dirty jokes or unsuitable comments. After all, you don’t want to embarrass the bride and groom or the wedding guests.

Risque comments about the wedding night, the honeymoon, the groom’s past relationships, the cost of the wedding, and explicit or graphic jokes are areas that should be avoided.

4. Focus On The Bride And Groom

This is the bride and groom’s special day. The wedding guests have come to honor them and hear wedding speeches about them.

Your Wedding Speech should focus on the bride and groom, not you.

End your Best Man Speech on a positive note and ask the wedding guests to raise their glasses and toast the bride and groom on their special day.
